Evora holds first INSMART city workshop
Évora held its first INsmart city stakeholders’ workshop on the 9 March in Sala dos Leões in the municipality chambers. It was organized by the INSMART Portuguese partners: Municipality of Évora, CENSE (FCT-UNL) and EDP Distribuição S.A.
The workshop was attended by 29 participants from the commercial sector, not for profit sector, local authorities and local & regional pubic services providers.
The workshop aimed to:
1) present the INsmart project and results already achieved to the local stakeholders
2) explain the alternative measures covering the whole energy system, from transport, to buildings, to public infrastructures that could achieve a sustainable energy future for Évora for 2020 and 2030.
3) discuss and rank the six criteria to be used for the selection of measures.
A multicriteria approach based on technical, economic, environmental and social criteria will be used to select the most promising measures. To help towards this the stakeholders were divided into four groups according to their main activities to actively discuss and converge on the weights they would like to give (individually and as a group) to each criteria. This stakeholder engagement and participation is very important to the project so a co-decision process can be followed when developing the sustainable energy measures which could impact on the city as a whole.
